Education is free to everyone and very compulsory in Sihanoukville. The students start school from six to thirteen years old and the lesson begins at 7 o’clock. There are two shifts, the morning shift and the afternoon shift. Students have to school for 4 hours a day. The morning shift starts from 7 to 11 o’clock and the afternoon shift starts from 1 to 5 o’clock. The students have to wear white shirt with blue or black trousers/skirt. They go to school by walking and bicycle.
Secondary school is after primary school from Grade 7 to Grade 9 that students have more subjects to study than in primary school. e.g : Khmer study, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Moral civics, English, History and Earth science.However, timing is still the same. Secondary school is where students can meet and make new friends because they are from different primary schools and variety parts in sihanoukville to go to the same secondary school as well as they meet new teachers, friends and playgrounds at the new school (secondary school.).
